Irish band Ham Sandwich have a big announcement to make. They’ll play their biggest headline concert ever, at the Olympia Theatre.
Our former Irish band of the Week Ham Sandwich are not newcomers to the live scene. We were expecting a big headline show to be announced. They opened for big names like Mumford and Sons when they played Phoenix Park a few months ago, and Bon Jovi when he performed at Slane this year.
“It is both an honour and a pleasure to be playing a gig at the Olympia. It’s such an iconic venue, and over the years we have had a few chances to play there with Barretstown for example, but now we get to tackle it all on our own! It’s very exciting to be playing our new music to people in this wonderful venue!” enthuses the band’s vocalist Niamh Farrell. “Over the years I have seen some of my favourite bands play in the Olympia and those gigs are always the ones I remember so hopefully we can create some great memories for others!”
“We’re really excited about our first Olympia headliner because we all grew up going to gigs there and it was an important part of the band’s development. The place is such an atmosphere generator that’s steeped in character; even just performing on the same stage that Charlie Chaplin & David Bowie previously performed will bring us to a whole new level” says Podge McNamee, one of the band’s charismatic vocalists.
