We’re Two Years Old! 10 Things We’re Really Proud Of
It’s been two years since DublinConcerts.ie’s first article. Unbelievable!
I’m Lucy Ivan, founder of DublinConcerts.ie, and I’d like to thank you all for being here on this special day.
Time flies when you’re having fun, so it feels that just yesterday I was thinking that a music website would be the best way of combining my passion for music and all things digital. So much has happened since then that it’s hard to choose the best memory. I’ve met amazing people both in our team and in the industry. From bands, PR people, promoters and music fans, Dublin is vibrant and full of wonderful people and music.
Here are 10 things we’re really proud of:
1. Our Team
Over thirty talented people have contributed to the website in these two years and it wouldn’t be at this level without them. Meet all of them in our “About Us” section.
Having full time day jobs, we contribute to this site in our spare time and we cover as much as we can. Would you like to be part of the team? Let us know. We would like to cover more and you could help us to do that.
2. Our Fans
We have more than 10,000 fans on Social Media and they deserve a special mention and a sincere “Thank you!” for following our activity. They give us feedback and keep us motivated to do great things. If you’re not already following us, you can do so on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube.

3. Winning “Best Music Blog” at Blog Awards Ireland 2013
Although we think of ourselves as a website, not necessarily a blog, winning that award was a fantastic achievement and recognition of our work. It happened just 15 months after the website was launched and we’re very happy for this title. By the way, we’re nominated for this year’s edition too.
4. Our Traffic Growth
Have a look at the graph below and you’ll see our evolution during these two years. The only way is up!
We’re very proud that with a team of volunteers and no funding, we have around 100,000 unique visitors/month. As you can see, we’re still growing.
5. Our Gig Listings
We’re biased, of course, but we have one of the best gig listings sections in Ireland. We have a few hundred upcoming gigs right now and we’re adding more every day. Want to see what’s on tonight? We’ve got you covered. Who’s playing where this weekend? Sure, we can help. The little yellow search box on the sidebar lets you find what you need in no time. From the biggest festivals to free pub gigs, we have it all. Well, maybe not all, so feel free to get in touch if you want your gig on our website.
6. Our Photos and Reviews
Photography captures the essence of the gigs. A split second frozen in an image with all the emotion, happiness, energy and talent. Besides photos, what’s better than a full written story of a gig?! Our contributors are talented and hard working and we’re proud of them and their work. Check out our photos and review section for some amazing images and reviews.
7. DublinConcertsTV
You like watching videos, right? Our latest project is DublinConcertsTV, a YouTube show we’re posting regularly. We want it to be a place where you can find the latest music news, upcoming gigs, interviews and other cool ideas we have, all in a 10 min video. You can check it out in our Videos section.
8. Irish Band of the Week
Irish Band of the Week is a weekly piece promoting talented local bands. We’re trying to showcase promising Irish artists who, we feel, should get more attention. We’ve discovered many talented bands through this section and hope you did too. Check out an archive of this section.
9. Being Part of the Irish Music Industry
As one of Ireland’s most successful exports, the local music scene is an exciting place to be, whether you’re a band, a venue, a fan or a music website. It’s a privilege to witness a band grow and become recognised internationally and to think that we wrote about them when they were way smaller. We’re proud to be a part of this and we wish to keep contributing with our activity.
10. To Begin Our Third Year
The first two years have been great, but we have big plans for the future. Here’s to another year of DublinConcerts.ie!
