Floor Staff 'The Guest' video

Our current Irish Band of the Week, Floor Staff, have just released a brand new video for their single ‘The Guest’.

The video was made on Nikon camera’s music video award scheme for unsigned acts and was directed by local music video director Bob Gallagher. The video features a couple coming to term with the fact that their baby is going to be a musician.

Watch the video below!

Anthony Donnelly (Floor Staff) on the new release: “I started thinking about the conflict between meeting other peoples expectations and fulfilling your own potential. I wrote ‘Brother to God’ in Mongolia where I felt I gained a sense of perspective on the whole thing. I think being in such an expansive landscape helped me to focus a lot, and to realise these conflicts even existed.”

Bob Gallagher on the concept: “The the idea itself was the result of a subconscious process rather than a literal one. So it became an interpretation of the tone and the feel of the song as opposed to a literal visual translation of Anthony’s lyrics. It actually came about during an interaction I had with a shaman where I took part in an ayahuasca ritual. It’s a powerful hallucinogen that lasts for a few hours. I had a lot of different experiences during that time but at one point I remember hearing ‘The Guest’ and at another point I remember experiencing my own birth. I experienced it from the perspective of both parents and Child. Those two things stuck out to me as having a connection with one another and for some reason that made sense to Anthony when I explained it to him.”
