Hozier does Ireland proud with Billboard Awards scoop

Wicklow’s favourite son continued on his path towards world domination as he brought home two awards at the Billboard awards in Las Vegas on Sunday. Andrew ‘Hozier’ Byrne was nominated in five categories on the night and walked away with the gongs for Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Song for his breakthrough hit ‘Take Me To Church’. After his stunning performance at the Grammys last year, alongside Scottish songstress Annie Lennox, it comes as no surprise that Hozier was invited to take the stage once again at the Billboard awards. The young Irishman stepped up and delivered a rousing rendition of ‘Take Me To Church’ with the support of some soulful backing vocals and a talented band, though the spotlight remained firmly on the Bray native throughout.

With another powerful live performance and two more awards for the mantelpiece, Hozier continues to do himself, and Ireland, proud on a global scale, rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest stars in the music industry and shining just as bright. Not bad for a Trinity drop-out.
