Sub Motion Irish Band of the Week

With the emergence of indie and folk music into Ireland, one genre was slowly being left behind by new musicians. Thankfully a few bands out there recognised this and real Rock music was reborn in Ireland. With the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters having played sold out gigs in Ireland in recent times, the clear message it brings is that Ireland is ready for distorted guitars, heavy drums and heavy rock. One of these bands making a name for themselves over the past few years are Sub Motion, and they are this week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week.

Beginning their journey in 2009, the Dublin lads then added female vocalist Rebecca Geary to their ranks in 2013, and it has really taken off from there. With sold out gigs at the historic Dublin venue Whelan’s to Button Factory, and playing at the RDS, the band’s stock kept growing and were ultimately named one of the ‘Ones to Watch” for 2015 by Whelan’s venue.

Known for their energetic live performances, the music speaks for itself. The latest single ‘Dust to Dust’ (video below) is testament to this; a banging chest thumper of a track that really stands out on their superb EP Happy Little Bruises which was released late last year.

Sub Motion are set to play upstairs in Whelan’s on Friday, the 12th of June, with amazing special guests Luna Luna. It would be a shame to miss out on what promises to be an outstanding night.
