The Sugarhill Gang Set To Headline BARE In The Woods 2016
The Sugarhill Gang, the legendary New York hip-hop outfit behind seminal 1979 single ‘Rapper’s Delight’, are set to appear in Ireland this summer, as headliners at BARE in the Woods 2016.
The third incarnation of the flourishing young festival will take place in Garryhinch Woods, Portarlington, Co. Laois on 11 and 12 June. Alongside the ground-breaking headliners, the first hip-hop act to crack the mainstream American chart, BARE in the Woods will feature a host of other acts, both Irish and international.
Other performers over the course of the weekend will include reggae legend Natty Wailer, Limerick rockers Fox Jaw and some of Ireland’s most electric live acts in the shape of King Kong Company and The Pale. The rest of the line-up features an eclectic mix of musicians including August Wells, Dah Jevu, Pretty Beast, Slow Motion Heroes, Everything Shook, My Tribe Your Tribe, Suan and Cua, Raglans, Jupe, Fangclub, Mongrel State, Made by Pete, CPNHGN, Megacone, Laurie Shaw, Damsel, Whiskey Dick, Gemma Bradley, Peter Njihia.
Aside from the exciting musical attractions of the festival, the appeal of BARE in the Woods is embodied in its unique backdrop. The scenic natural setting, beside the River Barrow, in the shadow of Slieve Bloom, will be complemented by stages largely built from locally sourced timber, milled by the BARE crew.
More acts are expected to be announced in April and tickets for BARE in the Woods 2016 are available now from bare.ticketleap.com at the very reasonable price points of 40 for a day ticket and €50 for camping.
