Longitude 2017 Announces First Acts
Just last week Longitude confirmed that it would be returning to Marlay Park for another three day festival of music in 2017, running from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July, and yesterday we finally got a glimpse of the first additions to the line-up.
The news of Mumford & Sons headlining the Sunday of the festival, and bringing a host of acts in tow, broke earlier in the day. The British folk act will curate Longitude’s Sunday line-up, as they are joined on the billing by the likes of Baaba Maal, Glass Animals, The Very Best, Jack Garratt and Lucy Rose.
The full first round of announcements came courtesy of Today FM later in the day, with a barrage of additions and the first poster for the festival unveiled online. Headlining on Saturday 15 July will be The Weeknd, one of the biggest draws in the business right now. Joining the Canadian chart-topper with performances across the three days will be Skepta, Picture This, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Kaytranada, Mac Miller, Kaleo, Wiley, Dua Lipa, Milky Chance, Tom Misch, Loyle Carner, Jorja Smith, Her, Raye and Rex Orange County, as well as the aforementioned Mumford & Sons curated acts.
It’s a mixed line-up thus far and many will be casting a nostalgic eye back at the much vaunted 2016 line-up. Of course, this is just the first announcement for Longitude 2017 and we’re likely to see plenty more additions in the coming months. Another big headliner for Friday night could change things completely and according to the festival organisers we can expect this announcement next week.
Tickets will be available on Friday 10 March from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, as well as online, and Three customers can avail of a presale on Wednesday March 8.
