Acrobat – Irish Band Of The Week
This week’s Irish Band of the Week is Acrobat. Just fresh from their performance at Hard Working Class Heroes, the band are going from strength to strength. Formed little over two years ago, Acrobat are a Dublin-based band created by members Mark Healy and Naoise Morzadec. Following in the footsteps of U2 and Hozier, their initial EP was recorded in Westland Studios and Exchequer Studios in Dublin with the aid of producer Rob Kirwan who has worked with the aforementioned music makers. Even more impressive that their decision to release the EP on their own Stoneship Record label earlier last year. One of the best received tracks proved to be the title track, ‘Follow You Down’, and since then they have been working upon their live performances.
In the last twelve months alone, the band have featured on the same bills as Bastille, Miles Kane, Mark Owen as well as an Arthur’s Day slot with Mumford and Sons. Furthermore, they were a prominent feature on the summer gig circuit appearing at several acts including Sea Sessions, Indiependence, Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic. On Halloween last year they went on to debut their follow-up EP Flux, which, again, benefitted from the guidance of producer Rob Kirwan, on the 31st of October.
Since then, the band have been touring the world with their music and receiving much critical acclaim. They were even fortunate enough to be a part of the ‘Canadian Music Week’. If you want to see a rock band on the cusp of greatness, then you should check out ‘Not Back Down’, a honed track that manages to display their freshness but also the benefits of persistence and the dedication to touring in the last few months.
