Bloc Party at The Olympia Theatre (photos)
Bloc Party had two shows at The Olympia Theatre Dublin this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bloc Party are a four-piece indie rock band formed in 2003 in London. It is composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums, backing vocals). Bloc Party got their break by giving a copy of their demo to Alex Kapranos, the lead singer of Franz Ferdinand and to Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 1 DJ.
The band released “Silent Alarm”, their debut album, in 2005. Since then, Bloc Party released three more studio albums, the most recent one being “Four”, released in August 2012.
The Dublin shows were part of Bloc Party’s European tour which will end in London on February 22nd. After that, the band will begin a tour that will take them through Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.
