Canalaphonic Returns To Dublin This Weekend
This weekend sees the return of one of the youngest members of Ireland’s festival family, with Canalaphonic 2016 taking place on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September. After a successful first year in 2015, the festivities will once again be taking place around Rathmines and Portobello.
The burgeoning festival promises to be bigger and better this year, with the addition of some new venues, including Whelan’s, Opium Rooms and the Bernard Shaw, along with an impressive line-up of Irish artists set to perform. The main stage this year will be located at Leinster Cricket Grounds, which boasts an impressive capacity of around 5,000.
After the success of last year’s inaugural event, Canalaphonic 2016 has assembled some great Irish acts for this year’s festival. Taking to the stage will be the likes of Mongrel State, My Fellow Sponges, The Eskies, New Valley Wolves, TADGH and many more. As well as the diverse musical line-up, festival-goers can look forward to a host of other cultural events, with the organisers promising “as much culture as we can squeeze in!!”.
Canalaphonic 2016 is looking like an ideal way to pass the weekend in Dublin and beat those post-summer blues. Best of all, it’s completely free, thanks to the great collaborative work of the organisers and sponsors. For more information, check out www.canalaphonic.com.
