Carolann Haskins – Irish Artist of the Week
Another Monday, another Dublin Concerts Irish Artist of the Week. This week we have former The Voice starlet Carrie Haskins and her very talented band.
Carrie arrives with her debut EP Country Spirit. It is, as the name suggests, a country influenced group of songs including the lead single of the same name. After a disappointing exit from The Voice TV show in 2011 from Team Bressie – which strangely came down to Bressie’s apparent taste in footwear – the Athy native has picked herself back up and has been writing with some leading names in the Country music business.
With airplay in the Country music capital of Tennessee, Haskins aims to build on this success starting with the EP launch night in the Bewleys Theatre on Grafton street on Friday May 2nd.
The 4 track EP has a real mixture of Country Folk, Rock and pop. Oozing with influences such as Garth Brooks and her namesake Carrie Underwood, it’s big a chance for her to get her name on the map after such a massive public support for the genre with the announcement of the Garth Brooks Croke Park gigs.
With one of the most sensational voices you will hear, Carrie delivers on every note, most evident on the closing track of the EP, Revenge. A very bright future ahead for young Haskins and Co.
Drop down to the EP Launch on Friday or you can catch them tomorrow night at weekly Whelan’s New Music slot.
Country Spirit EP is set to be released on Bandcamp on Friday May 2nd.
