Common Wolf at Whelan’s – Review
Common Wolf @ Whelan’s, Friday 26th July 2013
Common Wolf played in support to Keith Moss and the Tightrope Walkers and NanuNanu last Friday to a full room upstairs in Whelan’s. Common Wolf were a last minute addition to the bill and were definitely a surprise. Clearly “Morrissey” fans the influence on vocal was fascinating to hear over a “Strokes” styled background of mod and punk influenced rock.
“Goodbye” and “Take it All” makes you sit up and pay attention to “The Smiths” edge, they play together with such enjoyment and they know they’re on to something. Overall quiet charming and rough around the edges, but theatrical in their performance – watching the singer place his hands onto the synth was like a concert pianist, pure live gold.
If this is only the beginning, we can’t wait to hear more from Common Wolf further down the line. Listen out for “The Good I Own”, “How are You” and their new single “We Come We Go” has just been launched, Keith Moss couldn’t have chosen a better act to open.
Ones to Watch!
