Damien Dempsey at Vicar Street (review & photos)

Damien Dempsey delivered two highly appreciated performances in the weekend before Christmas.

We went to see the show on the 23rd along with around a thousand other excited fans that cheered louder than a stadium crowd.

Damo, as the fans call him, has a fantastic connection with the audience. People just loved every minute of his brilliant performance, singing along until the very last song. Although Damien Dempsey had the spotlight the whole night, the group of extremely talented musicians that were behind him on the big stage in Vicar Street should be congratulated for the show. The sound was impecable and the band supported and emphasized Damo’s voice flawlessly.

Songs like ‘Bustin Out of Here’ and ‘Almighty Love”, included on Damo’s latest album, gave the show an explosive start, while some of the classics were kept for the grand finale.

A real treat for the crowd was the appearance of none other than Sinead O’Connor, who danced and sang with Damo for a good while.

Damien Dempsey released Almighty Love, his latest album, in September 2012. The album is nominated for Meteor Choice Music Prize 2013.
