Dissolutes - Irish Band of the Week

Who doesn’t love a bit of Rock ’n’ Roll, and I mean real Rock ’n’ Roll. This week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week has it in bucket loads. If you like your Rock with a bluesy tint and just the right amount of “oomph” then Munster men Dissolutes are the band for you.

Based in Cork, these lads have done the rounds for years separately before coming together to make a super band of sorts. Paul (vocals) and Darrin (Guitar) are no strangers to each other having both been a part of the successful 90’s rock band The Driven (anyone remember “Jesus Loves you more if you can drive”?). Having gone their separate ways, leaving Ireland behind for almost a decade, they both found themselves back in Cork older and wiser. The old spark soon ignited and the music began to flow. In came Paco (bass) and Ian (drums) to complete the band line up and the music was made.

Releasing their debut album ‘Brutal Theatre’ late in 2013, the band have been working hard and exciting fans with their pounding live performances. Fresh from supporting Irish legends Sultans of Ping at Cork’s Cyrpus Avenue, they are set to host a stomping gig in the city’s Crane Lane Theatre on Thursday August 14th. They are certainly worth checking out.
