Elm – Irish Band of the Week
Considering the fact that the last two bands of the week have featured seven-piece bands, I thought we better look at a four piece for a change. So what better band to check out than Elm? A young four-piece comprised of musicians from Dublin, Elm have already been making significant waves in the Irish music scene despite only having formed just last year; they’ve already graced Whelan’s Ones to Watch main stage, been involved in the Guinness Amplify Showcase, and spent the last months tirelessly promoting themselves throughout the country.
Their music is comprised of a haunting combination of cello, guitar, drums and some beautifully polished vocals. Elm want to change up the Irish music scene with a very different sound. Add to this, the fact that they’ve worked to imbue their style with deeply personal and emotive thoughts. Furthermore, they’ve shaped their debut music video, ‘Concentrate’ from the perspective of a member of the LGBT society, they’re a band that have created music that is not only heartfelt and honest, but also relevant to current issues within society.

The band will be playing a headline gig at the Odessa Club in celebration of their debut EP launch on the 29th of this month, and having very charmingly offered the first 50 people who purchase their EP a little bundle of joy and dirt which they can plant and watch their very own little elm tree grow!
