empire-circus-workmans-club-11Taking the Irish Band of the Week crown from Miss Orla Gartland are four piece Alt Pop band Empire Circus. Our Irish Band of the Week slot, just doesn’t seem to be leaving Dublin recently, and here’s another capital city band who’ve kept it here for another week long stint!

This quartet lived it up and jammed out in the USA for seven years before returning to this fair isle and founding a music school in Dublin. (www.puremusic.ie) Much to our delight, last year they came together to write more music and as a result, we now find ourselves eagerly awaiting a twelve-track album this coming September! What makes this forthcoming extra exciting is the presence of Bryce Goggin, producer/engineer extraordinaire on the track production. Goggin most notably worked with The Ramones and Anthony & the Johnsons, among others and so expect nothing but beautiful production on some killer tracks.

Last week saw the release of their brand new single “There is a Light” is a fantastic follow-up to debut single “True Believer”. With infectious lyrics and a soothing yet intriguing vocalist behind the mic, we’re waiting for a hat-trick with single number three already! The band promise to leave you dancing and singing with their new tunes and so seeing them in the flesh is a must, before they’re whisked back off to the States for their U.S tour!

You can catch them Upstairs at Whelan’s this Thursday, June 27th and, if you’re lucky, you and a friend can go for free. Here’s how you can enter the competition.

Check out the video for their latest single below and find out more about Empire Circus on Facebook and Twitter!
