Eric McGrathEric McGrath had his first headline show on Saturday night at Whelan’s.

Born in Dublin to a Spanish mother, Eric McGrath graduated UCD with honors, specializing in Chemistry. He then followed his heart and started studying Music and Media at Trinity College where he obtained a masters degree.

In June 2012 Eric released his debut album called Little Ripples. The album received strong critical acclaim and threw him into the spotlight.

The gig at Whelan’s was very cozy. The venue was almost full, but there was still a sense of intimacy, good communication between Eric and a bunch sitting at their tables and absorbing his music by candlelight. Eric is a very talented musician and his passion of music is obvious in every note he plays. It’s a pleasure to relax and enjoy the sound of his guitar. He played Whelan’s with a band of four musicians who completed his show with jazzy drums, clean melodic guitars, deep bass lines and great backing vocals.

The show included a special moment where Eric played a christmas single he wrote for charity. The tune is called ‘Till I’m Back Home and can be purchased for just 99c on iTunes. All sale proceeds go to charity, to the Make-a-Wish Ireland. You should really buy it because, besides the fact that you’ll help a charity, you’ll have a great song to include in your Christmas playlist.

More details about Eric McGrath available on his website, Facebook page and Twitter profile.
