Floor Staff – Irish Band of the Week | DublinConcerts.ie
This week’s Irish Band of the Week was suggested to me by our own Lucy. I had a listen to one of their singles and was immediately hooked (I had a second listen just to be sure). Floor Staff are this week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week.
Having listened to single “The Guest”, what sucked me in was the stunning arrangement and superb vocals. The fine twist of the lyrics was an added bonus. A self-described Alternative Pop project, Floor Staff are all set to release a Double-A-Sided single, Gift Horse/Brother To God, the latter written by songwriter Anthony Donnelly while in Mongolia where he ‘gained a sense of perspective’.
With a big night coming their way in the Button Factory this Saturday 9th August which will see the release of the aforementioned Double A side, but also ‘The Good Luck EP’ and the eagerly awaited (by me) video of ‘The Guest’ for which I have seen a snippet of and it’s brilliant. The video was directed by Bob Gallagher and came about from Nikon’s music video award scheme.
The Dublin band have a lot to look forward to even after the releases above when they play at this year’s Electric Picnic where they will play Earthship stage at Body & Soul along with some previous Irish Bands of the Week. Definitely a big few months ahead for the Floor Staff guys.
