I Draw Slow – Irish Band of the Week
Genres are slowly becoming a thing of the past, with many bands skating along the lines of several, giving further scope and reach for potential fans. Especially when it comes to this week’s Irish Band of the Week, pigeonholing bands like I Draw Slow would be naive to say the least. The five piece string band released their 3rd studio album ‘White Wave Chapel’ earlier in the year to rave reviews.
Louise and Dave Holden, a sibling partnership, began this journey in 2008. Then adding Adrian Hart on violin, Konrad Liddy on Double Bass and Colin Derham on banjo to complete the line up, they took the music world and charts by storm, with their previous album ‘Redhills’ reaching the Irish top 10. Bluegrass, Folk, Trad or whatever, their music is simply magical.
I Draw Slow have made big waves across the UK and Europe and after receiving significant airplay across the USA, were snapped up on US based Pinecastle records. After several high profile American gigs and a host of gigs across Europe including Knockantstokan, the Dublin band are now back on Irish shores and are all set to entertain. All starting this Friday 22nd August in Whelan’s, where they will also launch their newest single ‘Souvenirs’ on the night. But be quick, tickets are selling out fast.
