Irish Band of the Week: Super Hanz

Super HanzOur newest Irish Band of the Week won DublinConcerts.ie over months ago at a Genre Free Album Launch Night. Now they’ve just released their second EP and we’re quite frankly just enamoured.

Super Hanz are a pop/rock quartet hailing from Clane who’ve only been writing original material since 2012. Turns out they have a knack for this songwriting thing and have churned out two beautiful EPs since, including their latest release “One Won Seven“. The tantalisingly short four track EP was released earlier this month via bandcamp. The band consists of Stephen Fagan on vocals and guitar, Nicky Kilduff on vocals and bass, Rory McLoughlin on guitar and David Pearson on drums. Fagan’s voice has been previously described as a “blend of all of your favourite indie vocalists in one” and there’s simply no other way to put it. Live, a tinge of Caleb Followill-esque chants mixed with the bands melodies proves mesmerising.

Catchy tunes and anthemic choruses are in abundance in this lot’s back catalogue. When it comes to gigs, you can expect quite the show as the band excel in a live setting, as our Ian Blount found out recently. Here at DublinConcerts, we takes our hats off to any band who manages to fill a venue to the brim on the opening day of Electric Picnic.

We could go on and on but instead, we’ll leave you with a live stream of Super Hanz’ latest EP “One Won Seven” which you can download now from Bandcamp for just €4!
