laura-elizabeth-hughes-whelans-17Laura Elizabeth Hughes had her first ever headline gig in Whelan’s last Thursday, May 23rd.

The young Dublin-based singer/songwriter who started gigging just last year, released her debut single “Fear Of Falling”. Our Laur Ryan met Laura last month, when she supported The Needables.

With the setlist taped to her guitar, just like at her pervious Whelan’s gig, Laura stepped on the beautifully decorated stage. Visibly overwhelmed by the pressure of having her first headline gig, with the added pressure of having what seemed to be her entire family and friends, Laura started her set without much chatting. As soon as she started playing, her face lit up and she knew nothing can go wrong at that point.

As the set progressed, Laura became more and more confident and the audience more and more excited. The highlight of the night was, obviously, her new single, “Fear of Falling”. A few days before the gig, Laura released a video for her new single. Check it out on YouTube.

Laura started a crowdfunding campaign on FundIt for her debut EP. If you like her music, make sure to pledge. There are some interesting rewards for the pledgers.
