Leaders Of Men – Irish Band of the Week
Right now Tallaght is beaming with talented bands. All working hard and waiting for their time. One such band are Leaders of Men. I’d first heard of LoM when they were a support act for one of my favourite bands, The Weeks, in The Grand Social in July of 2013. In my review of the gig right here on DublinConcerts.ie, I barely mentioned LoM, but in the few sentences I wrote about them I mentioned how it was “one of the best rock vocal performances I’ve seen in some time” and “the Tallaght lads are certainly going places. Keep an eye out!”.
That opinion has not changed one bit in the 10 months that followed. They’ve worked hard, gigged their hearts out and are due to release a highly anticipated album later in the year. With Whelan’s gigs coming out of their eyeballs including 3 big summer gigs which started earlier this month, they continue their Whelan’s residency on Wednesday 18th June. But before that, the lads head across the water to London to support New Desert Blues in the trendy setting of The Lexington on June 2nd.
With festivals galore and plenty of their own headline gigs to come, I suggest getting out to see Leaders of Men somewhere….anywhere. Their Whelan’s gigs are only €5 and are available at the door on the night. Yes…FIVE EURO. Trust me, you’ll be paying 5 times that this time next year when you love them.
They have also just announced they are to play both Reading and Leeds Festivals which are held on the same weekend in August. A big step in the right direction.
