Lewis Watson Internet Sensation

Lewis Watson’s career began relatively late. He started playing guitar after he received one as a gift for his 16th birthday. Like everyone else, he started playing covers from Bombay Bicycle Club or Bon Iver. What he did differently than most of the other music enthusiasts was the fact that he recorded and uploaded his performances on YouTube. His videos were so well received that he posted more covers and his fan base started to grow. Among the covers he uploaded, he started adding his own compositions.

This year, in August, Lewis released ‘It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW’, his debut EP. The succes was fenomenal, topping artists like Madonna, Adele or Ed Sheeran on the day of the release.

Judging by the excitement we saw when he supported Kodaline and when his Academy 2 headline gig was announced, it’s obvious that the Oxfordshire native has a strong fan base in Ireland.

The gig at The Button Factory increased Lewis Watson’s popularity among the Irish even more. His tunes resonated with the full venue, he chatted with the audience and did a great job opening for Kodaline.
