Matthew Koma at The Olympia Theatre (review & photos)
Long Island born and bred singer/songwriter Matthew Koma supported Ellie Goulding at her latest Dublin gig at The Olympia, this April 7th.
After bagging his first record deal at the tender age of just sixteen, Matthew Koma has spent his last few years writing lyrics for electronic/dance music for artists such as Alesso and Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso. Tonight, he takes to the stage as part of a launch back into his solo career as he tours with Ellie Goulding for the entirety of her European tour.
His brand new single “One Night” became available for release this past week and is now available to buy on iTunes. Already a fan favourite, Koma’s new single is a powerhouse hit with its catchy sing-a-long hooks and electronic pop melodies, making it a potential summer hit. It goes down impressively well with a crowd who know little or nothing about the New York artist. Despite him being relatively unknown on this isle, the crowd eat it all up as Koma bounds around the stage. Koma is a true musical veteran, having been signed in the business for the past nine years and with him dominating the Olympia stage and getting the crowd going, it makes you wonder why it’s taken this long for him to get exposure that doesn’t rely on his collaborations with the dance scene.
Matthew Koma’s upcoming album, entitled Arcadia is set to be released later this year.
