Orchid Collective Irish band of the Week

Whelan’s hosting every year of the Ones to Watch festival is a highlight every January and the 2015 instalment was no different.

Many bands showcase their so far unseen talents for the good people. One of the bands at this years event was Orchid Collective and are this week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week.

With a great 2014 behind them, they kicked off the year at the aforementioned festival, with a bang and were the standout of the evening for many revellers.

The Dublin band have been hard at work with several festival appearances and high profile support gigs. It’s hard to resist their slick folk sound once it catches your attention.

One such track, ‘The Cold’ is a superb tune. A hooky opening verse leads you into the soft and beautiful harmony of the chorus.

One to watch for 2015 is a very apt description for Orchid Collective and they can be caught at Roisin Dubh in Galway on Wednesday 18th February. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter pages for more gigs closer to home. You’ll want to see these guys I promise.
