Tiny and a bit shy, the 18 year-old singer/songwriter stepped on the stage at The Academy, alone with her guitar. As soon as she started playing, Orla Gartland entered a different state, it was clear she was in a comfortable place. The “ginger nutcase”, as she describes herself on her Facebook page, loves performing. Wether she’s in her bedroom, filming her next YouTube video or on Ireland’s biggest stages, Orla is happy with her guitar.

Even though the venue wasn’t exactly crowded, those that gathered in front of the stage really enjoyed her set. She played some of her older songs, as well as very fresh ones, such as “Piece By Piece“, uploaded to YouTube on May 5th, with almost 27,000 views already. Another new song Orla added to the setlist was a delicious cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall”, performed live for the first time during one of her gigs. The song was dedicated to all those who, like her, were stressed out by exams.

In June 2012, Orla released “Devil On My Shoulder”, her debut single, available on iTunes.

Three more gigs with Orla Gartland are already featured on our website: a support slot at The Button Factory at Wingding in June and a headline concert at The Unitarian Church in July, as well as an appearance at Indiependence 2013.
