Paddy Casey, Irish Band of the Week

It’s been a long road and a fantastic career for this week’s Irish Artist of the Week. It’s been 15 years since his debut album, but Paddy Casey is still motoring along and making great music including a recent partnership with The Voice’s Kim Hayden for the wonderful track ‘Out of Control’.

From ‘Amen (So be it)’ in 1999, touted as one of the best Irish songwriters of the past 20 years, the journey he has taken has brought him all over the world. The release of the highly acclaimed ‘Living’ album in 2004 was Casey’s songwriting at it’s very best which included the singles ‘Saints & Sinners’ and ‘The Lucky One’. Following on in 2007 he released ‘Addicted to Company (Part One)’ to mixed reviews.

After a 5 year hiatus, the Dublin native came back in 2012 with the album ‘The Secret Life of…’.  Since then, he’s been busy touring and adding his own flavour to songs for Irish Charity album ‘Even Better than the real thing’ in 2012, including Bill Withers’ ‘Grandma’s Hands’ and Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’.

Paddy plays Whelan’s as part of their 25th Anniversary Celebrations this Friday 12th September. He is supported on the night by the aforementioned Kim Hayden.
