Saint John The Gambler

Besides Roisin O, we managed to catch another act invited to play at the Dublin City FM 20th Birthday party: Saint John The Gambler.

Saint John the Gambler is an Alternative-Folk band formed in 2006 in Dublin. With influences from gypsy music, mariachi, jazz and folk, St John The Gambler are nothing but an energy bomb. The first thing that crossed our minds when we heard them was “Partying with these lads would be so much fun!”.  And it was fun! People were dancing with their shoes off at The Mercantile to the contagious violin, fast banjo and deep double-bass rhythms.

Saint John The Gambler have played the Electric Picnic, Knockanstockan, Spirit of Folk, and in many places around Ireland. In 2008 they launched “Trains for the Sea”, their debut album.

More details about them on their Facebook page.
