Skipper's Alley Irish Band of the Week

Skipper's Alley Irish Band of the Week

Seven-Piece bands are surely few and far between. Yet we’ve managed to have two in a row, as we give you this week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week Skipper’s Alley.

Based in Dublin, this seriously talented group have travelled the world spreading the word of traditional Irish music far and wide. In 2014 they spread their wings as far afield as Zambia – playing in the Irish embassy there – and playing several festivals including Southwell Folk Festival in the UK.

Having released their debut self-titled album earlier this year to rave reviews, Skipper’s Alley have set the marker for future traditional Irish bands to reach. With outstanding arrangements and excellent vocal performances, the standard keeps jumping as the older generation pass the torch down to youth of today.

Now back home, after extensive touring in 2014 and early 2015, they are set to headline a special gig in Whelan’s, Dublin on Sunday, 26th April with some superb special guests.  At only a fiver on the door, who could resist a stellar Sunday night out in Dublin?
