Sleep Thieves

Sleep ThievesSleet Thieves were a very pleasant surprise for us when we saw them on Saturday at The Workman’s Club. They supported Wild Nothing on the final concert of their European tour.

We said it before but, as reality proves, it’s worth saying it again: supporting acts in Dublin are, more often than not, nice surprises.

In case you don’t know them, Sleep Thieves are Sorcha, Wayne and Keith, a self released Dublin trio formed in 2010. They play electric-pop and have released their first album, Heartwaves, in 2011. In May this year the band released a five-track EP called Islands that can be bought through their bandcamp page.

Their music seems like a very successful combination between Grimes and La Roux, a wild mixture of synth sounds, funky bass lines on some of the songs and Sorcha’s unmistakable vocals.  Sleep thieves are another band worth following and seeing live.

Find more about them on their Facebook page and listen to the wide selection of tunes they’ve uploaded to their Soundcloud profile.
