Spies – Irish Band of the Week
Blood, sweat, tears and raw talent are the makings of a successful band. And this Dublin 5 piece has bled, sweat and no doubt shed some tears along the way to build such an expansive sound. Spies are the Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week.
Building from heavier rocky numbers such as “Distant Shorelines”, Spies latest offering has everyone’s ears perking up. “Moosehead”, set for release on August 4th through Trout Records, has a new expansive sound from the boys. A new age Indie era is upon us in Ireland and Spies are leading from the front.
A sumptuous bass intro hooks the listener before the haunting vocals of Broderick take their hold. With upcoming gigs in Whelan’s and Roisín Dubh, you can’t help but feel that this sound will fill arenas one day.
Recent extensive radio play here on the Emerald Isle and the UK, and plaudits in The Guardian and NME, all of which is richly deserved. Some big gigs coming their way in UK and Ireland, now’s your chance not to miss the rising of such a talent.
- Roisin Dubh, Galway July 31
- Whelans, Dublin August 2
