Staring at Lakes – Irish Band of the Week
This week’s Irish Band of the Week are six piece Alt-Indie band Staring at Lakes. The Dublin based group are set to release their debut album ‘Warm Wars’ this month, and to kick it off, they are holding a big launch party in Bello Bar this Saturday, 27th September.
Staring at Lakes have released two tracks from the forthcoming album to much acclaim and widespread radio play. The most recent track ‘Cope’ is a slow building number with an eerie introduction. The vocals of Grace Tooher are soft, but to the point, and presented excellently.
The second track, ‘Consanguinea’, which directly translates as a female blood relative, is a beautiful folky pop song with superb harmonies throughout. A real taste of what is to come in the forthcoming album.
Product of a Fund It campaign that went well above its target, ‘Warm Wars, is certain to give the critics something to talk about, especially given the quality of the two tracks already on show.
