Swords at The Olympia Theatre – Review & Photos
Swords supported HamsandwicH at The Olympia Theatre tonight, April 19th 2014.
The Dublin three-piece have been the subject of stellar reviews for their debut album ‘Lions & Gold’ and their short set went down a treat with the sizeable crowd that had arrived early to hear them play.
Their simple keyboard riffs layered over effect-heavy bass and tied together by the solid drumming of Ian Frawley weave a far bigger sound than expected. The gentle vocals of Diane Anglim provide a nice counter balance to the music, which is complimented at times by astonishing, ear piercing effects. Recent single ‘All The Boys’ went down a storm and when a crowd is chanting for ‘one more tune’ at the end of a support band’s set then they can congratulate themselves on a job well done.
