We’ve first seen The Barley Mob in May at the Dublin City Soul Festival, on probably the hottest day in Ireland this year. It was around noon and people were lying on the grass in Merrion Square Park but these guys managed to get them on their feet and dancing. The cool mix of soul, reggae, uplifting beats with rock riffs and powerful messages in their songs makes them one of the best local bands we’ve seen lately.

Since forming in April 2010, The BaRLey MOB have played over 200 gigs from the smallest snugs to the illustrious Electric Picnic, where they performed 6 times in one weekend. Every gig, rehearsal and road trip resulted in the band being described by the Irish Daily Star as “One of the tightest live bands on the circuit today” in 2011.

At Knockanstockan the band delivered a great show with a full crowd willing to do whatever the band asked, in spite of the rain and the wind coming from Blessington Lake.

We hope you’re at least curious to see them. They have 12 (twelve!) gigs in August alone, all around Ireland and the UK.

More info about The BaRLey Mob, their music and upcoming gigs on their website and Facebook page.

Sit back, relax, enjoy one of their best songs and some pictures from their appearance at Knockanstockan 2012.
