The Cold Draw – KnockanStockan – July 28th, 2013

The Cold draw are a sophisticated five piece formerly founded from the Thomas Donoghue Band. Just as they soundcheck on The Shack of Diamonds stage, the rain drizzles down. Disregarding the weather, frontman Thomas takes centre stage. Their first track delivers a depth of vocal that could carry rock anthems. Laced with acoustic harmonies, the violin adding punctuated tension and depth throughout. Watching this band can be confusing on the senses. The dreadlocked main man has a deep and echoing voice. His band’s creations feel like massive soundtrack productions, primarily due to their arrangement and Thomas’s vocal ability. All in contrast to the laid back look he projects, which is not a bad thing as this band continue to surprise throughout their set. The feedback from the slightly dampened crowd is immense, the band feed off it grinning endlessly.
