The Dead HeavysThe Dead Heavys opened for Vann Music at Whelan’s on November 1st 2013.

Before the main band was to perform, we were treated to a rocking performance from The Dead Heavys, a five piece band from Waterford.  To be honest with you, I hadn’t really listened to them before their gig and I didn’t really know what to expect. As they took to the stage, we (the audience) were overwhelmed by the sheer talent and their wonderfully written and catchy songs.

They opened the night with “Liquidator”, an extremely upbeat song with great vocals and melodies. Another track performed was a soon to be favourite of mine “Everybody In The Night”. This song is too damn catchy that I’m still humming it as I write this. It’s the type of song that if it was played in a club or in somebody’s home it is sure to get people up dancing, a joy to listen to and the band seemed to enjoy every second of their performance and they were right to. The Dead Heavys kicked the night off with such a bang and these guys are most definitely a band to watch out for.
