The Enemies at Whelan’s (photos & review)
Whelan’s hosted three Drogheda bands on Friday night: The Highlife, The Profile and The Enemies.
We’ve seen The Enemies before, back in October 2012, when they played Whelan’s on New Music night.
As soon as they started playing we remembered how much we enjoyed their previous gig. They play with the same joy, and have at least as much fun on stage. The Enemies are all excellent musicians who complement each other very well. Ronan’s unmistakable voice goes so well with Johnny’s guitar riffs, backed by Brush’s clean and deep bass and Monty’s drums.
A few months ago, The Enemies began a very cool project that will result in a video for their tune “Beauty People”, created with the help of their devoted. People from all over the world submitted pictures with the words “Beauty People”. The guys were hoping to have enough to include in a short video, but they were overwhelmed by the massive amounts sent by their fans.
This spring will be quite busy for the band, according to Ronan. They’ll go on a North American tour that could last a whole month. After that they’ll launch their new album.
