The Revellions – ‘Give it Time’
It’s been 5 long years since the release of The Revellions self-titled debut album and 3 years since the single Sighs. A long time indeed, but one that has definitely been worth the wait. The Dublin 4-piece take you on a 9 song trip through the decades from the 60’s all the way to 2014 with their experienced sound and profound lyrics.
The maturity in this album is there for all to see. The garage infused rockers have toured extensively throughout Europe to get their names on people’s tongues before returning to the studio to create this strong return to the charts. A subtle opener in Strung out Bad, with superb chorus and harmonies, sets the album off nicely. Next up is a complete U-Turn in Don’t Wait For Me, a 60’s throwback to blues rock followed by the psychedelic Bitter & Twisted.
There is no doubting the amount of work gone into creating this album but they still weren’t afraid to experiment quite a bit especially in the title track Give it Time and the album closer and pure instrumental, The Waltz.
The album won’t be to everyone’s taste. The modern music listener will rebel against its retro feel, but the real music lover will embrace its wholehearted homage to a time of real music.
