the-statics-thomas-house-11The Statics are taking over the Irish Band Of The Week title from Super Hanz.

We’ve featured The Statics many times on DublinConcerts.ie so far, so they don’t need much introduction. All you need to know is that they’re a Dublin-based four-piece formed last year who make excellent music. With a sound influenced by bands such as The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Statics have already established themselves as an original, fun, energetic and honest band.

In 2012, The Statics have released a four track self titled EP, as well as a single titled “Holiday”. Earlier this year, the band released “Hidden Pidgeon”, their second EP.

On October 19th, The Statics will release “Alone”, a new single off their latest EP, with a gig in Sweeney’s.

We’ve seen The Statics live a few times and we’ve played their tunes over and over, so we can give you a very honest piece of advice: Go see them live and check out their Soundcloud profile.

With a long list appearances at this summer’s top Irish festivals under their belt, The Statics have developed confidence and maturity that make their gigs even more interesting. From Jaqueline’s drumming, to Daragh’s guitar play and Thomas’s upbeat bass lines, everything sounds just right. Add Liam’s vocals in the mix and you get some tunes that will surely stick with you.

You’re probably already checking the calendar to see how many sleeps until The Statics play Sweeneys. The good news is you don’t even have to wait until the 19th to see them. Go to Whelan’s Front Bar this Saturday around 7PM for a free gig with The Statics. You can thank us later for the tip.
