The StaticsThe Statics, a four piece Dublin band who recently launched their first single, have turned down the invitation to open for Rihanna at The Aviva in June next year, according to a statement released by the band earlier today on their Facebook page

“Even though it’s a huge opportunity to play in the O2 with a major hip hop star and a substantial fee was offered, we are completely against Rihanna being a zope”, said The Statics.

They’ve also added: “with our latest single ‘Holiday’ being about not being a zope, having some self respect, it goes against everything we are about as a band and supporting Rihanna would send out the wrong message to our fans.”

Earlier this year, Dublin based The Original Rudeboys have turned down an invitation to open for Chris Brown because his past with violence towards Rihanna was against their beliefs.
