The Stoney Brokes at KnockanStockan 2013 – Review and Photos
The Stoney Brokes – KnockanStockan – July 27th, 2013
Amy Kelly takes to the stage, her mystical red hair setting the tone for the musical encounter. We are about to begin with The Stoney Brokes. Starting with “Eulogy”, lilting harmonies, hints of rockabilly bass and then wham! Pick up the pace, punked up performance delivered in style. Amy’s dramatic nuances throughout their set intensifies her stage presence, highlighting her impressive vocal range. Their latest single “ Counting the days “ gets the crowd with its mix of soft harmonies, layered guitars and lilting verse. It’s a pretty tune that doesn’t deserve to be called pretty. “Say Goodbye” takes the tempo up with this cheeky marching melody, a few raw riffs placed cleverly at the end to sex it up. “Make Me New “ brings slightly mournful and lamenting lyrics sung from the heart with guitars to match.
