the-strypes-academy-sept-2013-20The Strypes played a sold out show at The Academy tonight, September 19th, to release their debut album “Snapshot”.

The atmosphere was electric at The Academy last Thursday. Over a thousand people were waiting for the young stars of Irish Rock and Roll to take to the stage. In true rockstar fashion, The Strypes didn’t just come to the stage. They  had a rather unusual introduction. BP Fallon, wearing his unmistakable hat, a black suit and a pair of pink Converse shoes, recited the lyrics of his tune “I Believe In Elvis Presley”.

An eruption of excitement burst as soon as the four Cavan lads stepped onto the stage. Dressed impeccably, as always, with a cool attitude, The Strypes opened with “Mystery Man”, track one off their album. “She’s So Fine” and “I’m A Hog For You Baby” followed and the fans were already jumping.

As the set progressed, the boys seemed more and more comfortable on the stage. These lads were made to perform and entertain. No wonder they have such devoted fans from Ireland all the way to Japan. “You Can’t Judge A Book”, one of their first singles, was the one of the best received tunes of the night.

It’s not a secret to anyone that The Strypes are moving fast towards massive success. The way their Academy gig was received is a proof of just how popular the four lads have become. Their album is already high in the UK charts.
