we-cut-cornersTaking over from Young Wonder as our new Irish Band of the Week are Dublin-based duo We Cut Corners.

Fresh off the stage at Iveagh Gardens just a few days ago, supporting Bell XI, We Cut Corners tight knit, two man show have earned them our top spot here at DublinConcerts.ie.

Their critically acclaimed debut album “Today I Realized I Could Go Home Backwards” made them Choice Music Prize nominees for Irish Album of the Year and is a testament to the power of the duo.

Tight harmonies, often vulnerable lyrics and the way the vocals demand your ear and attention make them an undeniably brilliant band. They exude emotion and further it with the intelligence and sharp wit of their lyrics. They have a knack for playing with words and creating a dry wit that makes them feverishly charming. Their album has proved that they’re not only capable of acoustic songs but also incredible hard hitting riffs and gradual climbing builds that set off tracks like “Yet”. A band with the ability to create laments and contrast these with the yelling rock of tracks like “Go Easy” and never lose their essence, is a band to be reckoned with on these shores. They stand out from the overcrowded genre from which they originate and surpass all expectations of your average indie band.

A second album is due for a release in Autumn of this year, and we here at DublinConcerts.ie are more than eagerly anticipating it’s arrival! For now, you can check out their track “Yet” below.
