White Chalk – Irish Band of the Week

White Chalk Irish Band of the Week

White Chalk Irish Band of the Week

Stemming from the appearance of lead singer Conor Quinn on the Voice of Ireland in 2012, this band were born and boy, have they grown. White Chalk are this week’s Dublin Concerts Irish Band of the Week.

After falling at the last hurdle to eventual winner Carlow native Pat Byrne in the above reality singing competition, Quinn knew what was best for him and his future as he began the writing process that moulded White Chalk into what they are today. As the band member numbers grew and grew, it’s safe to say that 7 is indeed a lucky number when it comes to these guys.

Hailing from all over Leinster, they’ve pieced together all their talents to create this wonderful harmonic sound. A folk induced symphony of sound mixed with the superb vocals of Quinn, shot this group to the top of the iTunes charts with their debut EP Golden Kids. Their latest single ‘Back to the Start’ continued in the same vein with superb musicality but with an upbeat flair.

After supporting local lads Kodaline here in Ireland and Rea Garvey on a European tour, they are set to head off to London for a 4 show tour. They return to Irish shores for a big headline gig in the Academy in Dublin on Saturday May 30th.
