Too Fools - Irish Band Of The Week

This week’s Irish Band of the Week is TooFools, the brainchild of the extremely talented Lorcan O’Dwyer and Steven McCann. Their style is a combination of funk, falsetto, rhythm and soul culminating in a multi-faceted sound experience. The pair had already respectively performed with a handful of bands before, as they describe it, noticing ‘telepathic musical connection’. The pair who had both studied in BIMM decided to collaborate and see where things would take them. So, TooFools was born; not only was it a wonderful reflection of two stunningly gifted multi-instrumentalists but it also marks the sharp rise in BIMM’s ability to turn out professional, focused musicians.

The pair’s collaborative talent is undeniable, wavering between a variety of genres, it’s quickly apparent that their music knows no bounds in terms of styles but rather they offer a musical buffet of sounds and influences. In fact, as varied as their music is, their band of two inflates to almost double digits during some performances, this seems only necessary thanks to their eclectic style. Performances on the typical festival circuits has secured them as a force to be reckoned with, having been well received at the likes of Body & Soul and Electric Picnic, they’ve certainly carved out a name for themselves as being a formidably talented act.

This reputation was strengthened by the release of their single ‘Touch’ earlier last year, the track being undeniably smooth with a charmingly funk vein throughout it. The song was well received from critics and fans alike. The pair have promised a self-produced EP later on this year and if ‘Touch’ is anything to go by, it should be one to watch.
